Section 388 - Instrument Software and Science Data Systems

The Instrument Software and Science Data Systems Section (388) is part of the Instruments and Science Data Systems Division (380) at JPL. Section 388 provides end-to-end software systems in support of Planetary, Earth, Astrophysics and non-NASA missions. The section also researches and prototypes advanced computing and information technologies for infusion into future missions. Integration of technology development, software development and operations teams ensure the system engineering of a comprehensive end-to-end instrument software system.

Section Core Capabilities

  • End-to-end instrument software systems
  • Model-based system engineering
  • Instrument autonomy software
  • Instrument embedded flight software and ground support equipment
  • Instrument operations
  • Instrument calibration software and analysis
  • Level 0, 1, 2 and 3 science product software
  • Science retrieval and analysis software
  • Instrument and science data management systems
  • Science data systems
  • Archive data systems
  • High capability computing and modeling
